“How do you have time to read books with all that you do?!?!?”
This was the question that stunted my reading in 2017. What books have you put down that are begging to be picked up?
I don’t know who said it and I don’t actually place blame on them because I realize that my ego was HELLA TRIGGERED when I heard this – and if I’m using all caps and phrases like “hella triggered,” you know it was serious.
The problem was that instead of just reading, whenever I could, however much I could, I started planning out my reading sessions to work with my busy schedule. IT. WAS. GROSS! If expectation is the thief of joy, planning is the thief of reading. The spontaneous inspiration that I had enjoyed from diving into a good book and letting myself get hooked had turned into a check list. DOUBLE GROSS!
Disclaimer: I mean no offense to planners and check-ers. I’m just not wired that way, which is why I have Melanie working with me. I digress…
SO – to get back on track, here is a list of books that I started and stunted in 2017 and am committed to finishing this year along with some new juicy titles that I’ve yet to spontaneously dive into. As for the above question? Some questions don’t require answers – they just need a comfy space and a good book.
