The Fear Of Self Promotion

After I sold my studio, I decided to put my heart and soul into my coaching practice.  I put info on my website about rates and options. I created programs for those who were interested in doing a deep dive over a longer period of time and I created an online teacher support course to supplement all of my in-person efforts.  Then, I waited.  Surely, after all of these efforts, people would start to show up. Right?

After a few months of waiting for new coaching clients to appear, I started to get worried.  Maybe I shouldn’t have sold the studio.  Maybe I was charging too much? Maybe I was charging too little? I thought I had set everything up just perfectly, and couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong.

Then, one day on social media, a teacher reached out through direct messaging and said “Jenna, I love the things you are writing about.  I’m looking to work with someone like you in a coaching capacity.  Do you ever do anything like that?”  OH. MY. GOD.  In all of my efforts to put together the perfect website and offerings, I had FORGOTTEN TO ACTUALLY TELL PEOPLE THAT I WAS A COACH!! Looking back, I realize I was so scared of owning this role for myself that I couldn’t put it out there for anyone else.

I got to work on creating some messaging surrounding my coaching services but kept running into a major roadblock – fear. I was afraid that if I announced that I was coaching professionals to my peers, I’d be called out for not having it all together myself. I started to have thoughts about having to have everything perfect before I could offer the service. I thought about ALL of the things that I hadn’t figured out for myself and that I didn’t have. I was in total scarcity mentality and I was ready to quit.

In a panicked moment, I turned to my journal.  I thought, if I write out everything I’m scared of, then maybe I it wouldn’t feel so powerful.  I turned open to a page and saw in HUGE words:

You are in the service of something unstoppable!!

This quote is from a text called A Course In Miracles and was introduced to me through Gabby Bernstein. I exhaled and remembered that I had a LOT to offer. I remembered that I had something to say. I remembered the people who were changing their businesses and their lives through our work together.  I decided to move forward and made a promise that I would teach from my story, continue to seek out the skills to support my teachings and show up every day in the service of this unstoppable purpose.

Today, I can say with confidence that I help thousands of people each week. Thousands. I sometimes feel overwhelmed thinking about it but returning to the service aspect grounds me back into my daily work.

Gabby has been such an inspiration part of helping me get out of my own way and doing the work I was made for.  In the third part of her free training series, she introduces tools to help you promote your work with confidence.  You’ll learn:

– How to make publicity and marketing FUN!
– The #1 way to make an impact doing what you love.
– Gabby’s secret method for standing out, being heard and creating a movement (This one is important!)

I hope you gain as much from this series as I have.  Click the link below for video #3 and let me know what was meaningful to you!

Much Love,
