sensationsv

Bom chicka wah wah… Sorry to disappoint you, but today’s #jennagem has nothing to do with what happens between the sheets. But listen, you use this post as a metaphor for whatever you need it for, ok? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Being a copycat is a part of any learning process. As we develop from children to adults, we parrot movement and positions of others to “try it on” in our own bodies. If it serves a purpose or we find ourselves doing it over and over again, our brain will hard-wire the pattern in our body so we don’t have to do so much work repeat it in the future. This is one of the awesome functions of our design, however, in becoming so efficient, our focus can rest on completing the task vs. having an experience with said task. For day to day tasks, it’s NBD, but what happens when you approach all of your movement from a place of “getting ‘er done?”

Today, think about the experience you’d like to have with the act of standing. What physical/energetic sensations would be involved within that desired experience? Now, actually stand up and notice the downloaded pattern your standing takes. Does this reflect your desired experience? If no, what shifts can you make to move closer to what you imagined? Typically, the shifts are small in nature, but yield large, happy results.

The miracle of our body is that we can, in fact, influence our experiences by embodying the sensations that we want to experience within any given task. Think of it like tricking your nervous system or, like creating your own experience – what every floats your boat! We must remember, however that if we’ve been on auto pilot with your movements for a while, changing that pattern may take some time for your brain to get on board with. Let me know how this “brain-bending” exercise works for you. With the right intention, we can create the experience we desire through our movements. ⠀
